Let's Go Fishing-Again!
|
I don't usually repeat a newsletter, but this one was so good, and is so timely, that I believe I should send it to you again. My thanks for these pearls of wisdom from the Vice President of Sales for WLPO, WAJK and The Wolf in LaSalle, Illinois. While he was on vacation to "get awayfrom it all", he found some inspiration and "truths" while casting his line. The Things Fishing Taught Me About Sales:
1. Keep paddling. If you stop, you will only go one way.
2. The small and easy-to-catch fish are near the shore. The "BIG FISH" are in much deeper water and require more line.
3. Often, you have to cast a lure to a fish many times before he bites.
4. Some fish require that you cast a "different" lure to them before they bite.
5. Some small fish will grow up to be "BIG FISH".
6. True fishermen don't complain or stop casting when the fish aren't biting. They fish even more!
7. Some fish contain more bones than meat and are not worth the effort to fish for.
8. The most successful fishermen are educated about the fish they are going to fish for.
9. The fish that put up the biggest fight are ALWAYS the most fun and rewarding to catch.
10. There are plenty of fish in the water!

| If your client wants his customers to accept something new and unknown, he will find it easier to do if he relates it to the known and familiar. Do his ads touch something familiar in the lives of his customers? When a potential customer hears an ad, he is asking himself, "Why do I care?" The best selling messages are about the customer and what the product will do to change his life. |
