There are literally dozens of things that great Salespeople do.  I've decided to pick 10 that fall into the philosophy of truly distinguished achievers. There are many basic principles that successful salespeople practice.  Do these 10 things to become a member of the elite...

    1.  Great Salespeople run their account list like a business within their employer's corporate structure.  Instead of expecting their employer to provide all the tools required, they make the investment when required.

    2. Great Salespeople are proficient in upselling their current clients while continuing to make a consistent effort toward new client development.

    3.  Great Salespeople have personal standards and expectations above their employers.

    4.  Great Salespeople acknowledge the company's perspective in addition to their own.

    5.  Great Salespeople respect the title of Sales Manager even if they might question the individual.

    6.  Great Salespeople lead by example and realize that their co-workers on the Sales floor are being influenced by their feelings, talk and actions.

    7.  Great Salespeople quickly apply themselves positively in the face of change, adversity or tough news.

    8.  Great Salespeople offer their clients the same service level after the sale is made, continually asking for feedback and referrals.

    9.  Great Salespeople make a consistent commitment to professional development by reading, video, podcasts and other forms of self-training.

    10.  Great Salespeople love their job, helping people and being creative when solving their client's problems.

Great Salespeople exhibit a couple of these 10 points. Few possess many of them.  That simply means we all have room to grow and get better at what we do.  That is why Professional Sales is a life-long career journey.  You'll never get bored and always learn something new if you stay sharp and perceptive.

All of these principles can be taught and acquired.  If you are interested in finding out how, please click the link that interests you...

Really good. Numbers 5,6,7 are the ones many of us need to focus on to be leaders. Leaders don't necessarily carry a title.

Thanks Jack.  I agree.  Leaders don't need a title to be who they are.  Once they get the respect of people, they become influential and capable of swaying opinion.  Our hope is that these leaders send people in the right direction.  Thanks for taking the time to comment!
