Clients & Credit Card Payments

I know several stations are now allowing credit card payments. I would like to know how you process payments, and you procedure works.

    1. Does your sales rep get a CC# from the client, and and the client authorizes payments per signed contract.

    2. Do you allow the client to pay online via your website.

    3. Is this the best way to insure payment from a potential client.

    4. Does this ease the burden by allowing credit card processing for the client, and insures that your station automatically receives payment.

    5. Or is it viable for a station to do this payment method.

We have been accepting credit card payments for a while. Our billing department is in another town so we do things a little different. We have our clients call our receptionist, she fills out a form and sends (via fax) to the billing department. Once she does that, she is required by to shread the form we use. We also give the client the option to call the billing department directly and make the payment over the phoen with them. It really is very beneficial for the company. I have found it is easier for a client too. Some clients have a standing order so to speak to have us run thier card number on a certain day every month.  We dont have our system set up to do things over the website.. although that would be a great option!

One year ago we adopted a policy to require all new business to be cash-with-order.

Salespeople get credit card information from clients and on the last day of each month we run the credit cards for the amount of the bill for the next month.

This eliminated the problem of the last day of every month being used to chase collections.  We've effectively added one selling day each month....that's 5% more sales calls because we do not waste time collecting.

In today's society people are used to paying for things they buy online IN ADVANCE WITH A CREDIT CARD.

Why not train clients to do the same with their radio advertising?
