Hey everyone! Do you have any ideas for a commercial I am working on? Its for a new massage place in town. They have a LOT of competition in town, but are currently the only ones using radio to advertise, so this could really be their place to shine. They want to be creative, set the "spa" mood in their commercial, and yet be simple. Any Ideas?

Oh, also... there is a cold call that I have been working on. The man owns a construction company- at first he just said no, and when I went back he said no again, but then talked about advertising for insurance deals. He seems like maybe he actually does want to advertise but doesnt have a great idea or know what he wants to do. I told him I would think about it and get back to him if I have an idea. Maybe YOU have the idea that he is looking for?

Here is an ad I did once for a massage business. If the client has a sense of humor and is willing to be a little risky.. they could use bit of a naughty approach ( attention getting).. I will ellaborate more on that if you think its a route they may want to take.

For the construction company.. how about an ad playing off life ... you update your wardrobe, your hair,.. you update your vehicle but its often easy to over see updating the most important investment a family makes.. your home. Or maybe a visual of pulling up in front of your house and how the lawn is perfectly mowed but the siding is cracked and windows are outdated and let cold air in.... something like that... If you are thinking a promotion of sorts that he can be the main sponsor... maybe do a small home makeover.. or bathroom remodel..or a free deck built,,, something like that where he will get a lot of branding name mentions.

I thought Jessica's idea about "sense of humor and willing to be a little risky" was a good one.  Perhaps something with the sounds of a woman really enjoying a good massage.  We've all heard those groans and sighs that emanate from a person getting a good neck rub, for instance, but that could go as far as you're willing to take it (depending on your audience, of course).  "Oh yes, right there...that's the spot."  "You have great hands...just keep doing that..."  Too risque?  Tone it down a bit, and you've still made your point - and I bet it attracts a LOT of attention!

Portraying massage as sexual or risque is a really really bad idea. I think it's important to sell the experience of the massage - without sexual innuendo. The script I posted tries to do that - to take a person who could use a massage and create the situation in which she does get a massage.  The same format can be used again and again to highlight deep tissue massage, etc. with different people and scenarios in which those people would benefit from the experience of visiting your massage client.  Define that client as an 'oasis' from the stress (and sometimes pain) of life.

That was my exact thought.. I just wasnt going to be borderline inappropriate on here unless she needed me to be for an example! LOL

I have found that those borderline inappropriate ads get the best response. I have a clothing dealer kind of like the Buckle and American Eagle... we do that with every ad she does... "come check out our racks" Our clothes look good on the floor.. the sales floor.... whats in Santas big red sack this year? Things like that... works like a charm for her business.

One of the key markets for massage is geriatrics. Sexual innuendo that works for pre-teens is not appropriate here. Massage therapists already fight the image of 'massage parlors'. Why in the world would you feed into that here?

Ive never heard of the "fight" you are referring to. And lets face it... sex sells.... it gets peoples attention and keeps them listening. Is it appropriate for every massage therapist.. no... but it could be for the one who is willing to take a riskay route...

you dont think talking about "stroking" and "deep finger" offer up a bit of a sexual innuendo???

That's the point. Massage terminology like deep tissue massage, et al already has sexual overtones - so why take the most obvious approach?  An antithetical approach makes the point without being obvious.
