I'm trying to come up with some exciting fun promotional ideas for our local USHL Hockey Team. They do have a good following and a nice arena...but need to fill more seats this year. They'd like to sell more season tickets too.

The team is celebrating it's 50th anniversary this year ... so maybe something to tie into that. The arena, Young Arena, is referred to as "Party Town". They have a nice apparel store called Party Town Outfitters.

Last year their tag line was Work Hard, Play Harder. They have a 'party room' you can rent, sponsored by Budweiser. (not sure about this year, but, last year that was pretty well booked)

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! thank you!!!!

As a voice actor this idea came to me as a radio spot.

How did you celebrate your 50th?

A man's voice ho hum at a party commenting on his over 50 cake and black balloons.
He opens a gift envelop and yells "party town"

    hockey sounds.

    Hey Sarah,

I have some great experience selling to Hosckey Teams. What format is your station?  I will see what I can come up with for you!

    Hey Bob,

Thanks for the help!! We have two stations -- a sports talk am station and an a/c station ... our a/c station is heavily listened to in offices ... we have an 'at work network' program ...

Thanks Joel!  They do a lot of these things .... the special jerseys, the tributes to the military, breast cancer awareness, etc....the players do make appearances, but, I do like having the players make appearances on our stations!!  we havent done that before!  Great Idea! thank you!!

Hi, I have a couple ideas.

One, you have a bunch of what the airlines calls "y" seats...or unsold seats. The way they handle it is to fill them with upgrades or people who need a seat to get somewhere the airline can't take them otherwise. How about having a 2 for 1 night and a winning set of ticket stubs at the door get a prize...say a night in the Budweiser suite. You can get more people in the arena and get them used to using better seats if they're able to buy them early enough. You need to tell people on the air that the best seats will go fast and people who buy better seats get first in line for discounts for season tickets.  That way you can talk about the Budweiser suite with your on air people and they can talk it up...even over record intros.

How about having your air staff billed as "The Worst Hockey Team in the world" and they play a 5 minute game with your home team. The sliding and slamming into each other would be hysterical...especially if billed that way. You can make your 2 for 1 ticket night with that game between periods.

Just a couple ideas off the top of my already bald head.

Ok.  This is an Idea I came up with for Las Vegas Wranglers.  They had a fair amount of Saturday night Home Games.  I came up with the Idea of doing the Saturday Night Sin Bin.  (another name for the penalty box)  You rope off an area bring in food from a paying sponsor and bring a huge flat panel TV to watch  slap shot or hockey bloopers.  On air winners go to go the pregame party in the Sin Bin as well as tickets to the game.  This will bring in a ton of potential new fans and will sound great on the air.  If you do this  with the AC station you can use the NickelBack version of Saturday Nights's Alright for Fighting by Elton John.

If I can find the old proposal I will send it over to you.  have fun!!
