College bookstore remote broadcast promotion ideas???

I've got a three hour, live-remote broadcast with a college bookstore client next week. We thought we were going to be able to host a mini-concert in the parking lot towards the end of the broadcast, but things have fallen through. We're now scrambling to come up with an activity to help garner some additional interest and encourage college students to stop by. We'll have plenty of free giveaways including $500 worth of free textbooks for the next semester, but client wants something fun in addition. An eating contest was their idea and I obviously want to see if I can come up with something stronger than that. Something to register students for - have them participate in and award prizes. Any ideas? Thanks much!

Trivia! Are you dumber than xyz host. We actually bought a whole trivia game show complete with microphones and buzzers. People love it and keeps them engaged.

Cool idea. We could pull this off pretty easily too - just need some good trivia questions and a pa system. Thanks for the idea!

I'm sure the campus is crawling with talent.  Why don't you have a contest of musicians (be sure to line up 2 yourself), give them one minute to play their best stuff and let the crowd vote on their talent by cheering... Just a thought.

We have a prize wheel that you can spin.  It looks like the wheel of fortune wheel and each space is a number.  You get the prize assoicate with the number you land on.  We get tickets, gift certificates and station items to give away.  You can get items from the local college book store, food gift certificates, movie tickets, etc. that college students would love. It's a lot of fun!   Good luck.

Minute to Win It!  Bring some prizes and use some of the crazy "games" the show does....you can go online and get instructions for different games at http://www.nbc.com/minute-to-win-it/how-to/

Not only is it fun to try to win prizes but it would attract an audience!  Good Luck!

Free gourmet/designer coffee.  Might be able to get another sponsor!

Similar idea as Shannon...a battle of the bands, open mic, jam session with a bit of pre-screening (just a bit because you could get some really interesting "talent" out there that could leave the crowd talking for days), or general talent show~

I'm like you. College kids never have enough money so the first thought that came to mind was food certs or discounts to restaurants.

I like this and I think it would work well for our winter sale with this client. There's a cute little, high-end coffee shop around the corner that might be willing to let the book store students sample their blends. Thanks much!
