Since there are only 44 shopping days left 'til Christmas, here's this week's poll question:

Does your station sell Christmas music to sponsors? If so, how do you sell it, and when do you start?

On a few of our easy listening stations we go all Christmas from Thanksgiving to Christmas with "Sounds of the Season" (non-stop holiday music) and sell radio Christmas cards to local businesses. Great revenue source for us and can easily add 200% more to our December telesales!

New this year we plan to add the "25 days of Christmas" to our country formats. My on-air talent will focus on 1 Christmas song each day for 25 days by playing a different rendition of the classic at the top of each hour by many different country artists throughout the years. A little history, paired with commentary, makes it a hourly event. Very easy to sell! Packages range from $199 to $999 and can easily add 20% to our December Revenue.

Christmas is a great season for our company sales teams. You must start selling Nov1!

Our AM station sells 1/2 hour blocks of Christmas music for Christmas Eve 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Christmas Morning till Noon.

We have a Large nursing home that buys a one hour exclusive block; no commercials whatever. They have us record greetings from the residents and they pick the music for the one hour.

If you're talking about the "This hour's music is brought to you by...", I'd rather give them as added value with a decent commercial. Otherwise I have found that they expect the entire hour to be commercial free except for them. If they want to pay for what one hour at rate card would generate, that's fine. Do I sound like a money changer in the temple?
A wise man once said that,"Christmas is poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every 25th of December."

We do sell Christmas music. We do 36 hours of non-stop Christmas music. Each hour is an exclusive sponsorship. Each sponsorship (open-:10 ad at the half hour-close) is $225 an hour. Regular spot schedules still occur inside the hour.

We are currently running a Christmas promotion called 'The X-mas Factor' in which clients buy an unusual Christmas music fact, that broadcasts four times per day on one day with a message to their customers.
