From Rick Murphy: 10 reasons local radio will be here for your grandchildren
One to multi-point distribution
No bandwidth problems - Listenership is unlimited
1 billion radios in existence in America
Radio was Google before Google was Google
Free content for just listening to a few informative local advertisements
Cheap
Local
Ubiquitous
Easy to use
Always there.
Most manufacturers have turned on FM radios in all their cell phones
I interviewed our local Ford Dealer and the local Chrysler/Jeep/Toyota dealer and asked the following question: “Each of you has over 40 years in the business. Have you ever had a customer insist that their new car not have an AM/FM radio?” Both said NEVER!
You say Millennials are plugged in. But they may not be as plugged in as you would expect. Only 38 percent of Millennial men say they used Twitter over the past month, and 43 percent have not downloaded an app in the previous month. They are not spending as much downtime watching TV which indicates big changes will be ahead in advertising to adjust to their lower TV viewing levels.
Finally, there is one traditional medium Millennial men are still embracing: Radio. Eighty-eight percent say they listen to radio every week, averaging 11 hours and 42 minutes per week.
