Several years ago the RAB produced a video with Orson Welles titled, I believe, "Radio: The Theatre of the mind."

I'm looking for a copy of the video. Suggestions? (the RAB doesn't have one.)

One of our Facebook fans, Wendolyn Frech, replied to the RSC Facebook post, saying, "I believe that was a audio piece, but was it Stan Freeberg - the Ice Cream Sundae in Lake Michigan spot and others?" You can see her post here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#/pages/Radio-Sales-Cafe/93812135877?ref=mf

No, it definitely was a video voice by Orson Welles and was to be used in advertiser presentations.
I remember the classic Stan Freeberg "Who listens to radio" spots very well.

    Darrell,

I recall a sales/promotional campaign that included a video presentation and some jingles and pre-produced commercials, that we used to introduce advertisers to our medium back in the mid- to late-70's. I believe it was called "Get It on Radio...and Get It On!" This campaign featured not Orson Wells, but another hugely talented "big voice" actor, Paul Frees, who did character voices for Disney animations and a slew of commercial V/O work for Radio and TV.

A diligent Google search might yield something from this campaign. I didn't see anything in the first 4 pages I just called up, but maybe you'll have better success.

There's a chance I saved a cassette tape with some of the stuff we produced back in Winona, MN to promote our ad sales department. If I can find it, I'll post it for you.

Meanwhile, here are a few classic pro-Radio promos for your listening enjoyment (they are not authorized for airplay), courtesy of the Radio Advertising Bureau.

    Freberg - "Cherry"

Freberg - "Walking in My Mind"

    Leno - "Banana"

    Leno - "Airplane"

Darrell....I believe you are thinking of Stan Freburg. Go to www.DesMonesBroadcasting.com and find "Radio's Cup of Hot Chocolate". Clients will BUY creativity. It's emotional! Jerry

Thanks for the reply, but it was Orson Welles and produced by the RAB in the early to mid 1980's.
