Happy Friday, everyone!
Once again, this week’s poll question was inspired by a recent blog post by our friend and sales consultant “Doctor” Phil Bernstein of Portland, OR. In “3 Resolutions to Dramatically Boost Your Sales in 2016,” Phil discusses practical, easy-to-implement changes that can make a huge difference in your billing. Click here to read the article.
So we’d like to know:
What are your sales resolutions for 2016?
Looking forward to reading your answers!
My main resolution, sales-wise, is to deepen my understanding of digital advertising and how it can work with and enhance the results of traditional advertising such as radio and TV. As recently as two or three years ago, most advertisers I met with had little interest in digital opportunities unless they were "throw-ins". Now it's often the digital that gets them excited first.
I promise to never use the phrase "...for all of your _________needs" in a commercial.
People are not sold on radio for their needs, only for their "wants".
(Example: a old used Ford in a transportation "need" a new Corvette is a "want".
A good one to resolve, Joe. The very first radio script I ever wrote had "for all your pest control needs" at the end. Todd Tolces, KEX's production director, called me into his studio and gave me what might be described as an animated lecture. That's when I decided to learn to write copy.
