Do you have an advertiser who sells Honda Snow Throwers and runs coop ads for them?
Wondering if you have had experience submitting your own scripts to Honda for coop approval.
Honda provides pre-approved coop scripts, like this one:
ANNCR: This winter, pack away your snow shovel and put the back-breaking job of digging out on ice with a Honda snowblower. When snow is in the forecast, don't sweat it - put the chill on winter work with high-quality, dependable machines from Honda. Quick-starting engines with plenty of heavy-duty power let these snowblowers handle whatever Old Man Winter dishes out. Honda snowblowers from (DEALERSHIP)-think of it as driveway access insurance.
Because it gave the client only one mention, I tweaked the copy to give them more exposure and make the message more engaging. As you listen to the spot below, you'll hear that the content is largely the same, probably over 90% similarity. I'd understood, working with the previous advertising manager, that Honda was fine with this. Now I'm working with a new person, who says that even the slight modification presents a problem - which is a shame, because it's a better commercial.
Anyone here have relevant experience working with Honda coop?
Thanks!
I work with a client who uses Honda coop. Honda has two "divisions" when it comes to coop. Motorsports, which is the ATV's and Power Equipment, which is the snow blowers, lawn mowers, etc. My marketing contact at the dealer submitted modified scripts to Honda for preapproval. They've been pretty good to approve the new copy. If there's plenty of time before the spot runs, you should be able to get the needed approval. You might have to play by the Honda rules, but it could allow getting the "better" message.
Brian, would love to know who at Honda (the specific contact) your client goes to for script approval. Any way to find out?
Rod, sorry so late to answer. I can check with my contact and see if I can get you the information you need.
