I'm feeling strangely uninspired and would love some creative ideas for a bar/restaurant promoting its Cinco de Mayo 'festivities'. I'm looking for a fun concept - something beyond the typical laundry list of drink/food specials, bands, etc.
Thanks much!
Just a thought: why not invite your listeners to the party? Have your bar/restaurant run ads for their first annual Cinco de Mayo commercial-writing contest. Winner gets a gift certificate and the chance to hear his/her commercial on the air. Run contest promos and accept entries now through 4/29. Announce winner on 4/30. Run the winning ad 5/1-5.
Hint: the bar/restaurant can include their specials in both the promos and the winning spot - a novel way to convey what they're doing.
Rod - I love it! I'm going to keep this in my back pocket for a future promotion when I have a little more time to pull it together (long story). The restaurant's logo has an animal character and I might pitch the idea for listeners to submit names for it and then incorporate him as a mascot/spokesperson (like the Taco Bell dog, GEICO gecko, etc.)
Thanks for taking the time to share! =]
