Stan Freberg, who passed away at age 88 on April 7, 2015, was a master of mental manipulation using nothing but sound to create great theater between the ears.
He created humorous commercials for radio and television, many of which you can find on You Tube. Watching his TV work, it's clear that he was vastly more preoccupied with the sounds than the pictures. It's really a shame that so many of the people who uploaded his radio work felt the need to add pictures, a clumsy contrivance that actually diminishes the final product. His spots were meant to be heard, not seen - except in the mind's eye. Freberg also gave radio some of its most powerful and enduring pro-radio promotional spots, a few of which you can hear below.
