Hi All,
I was wondering what are some promotions and ideas you guys doing for your local restaurants. I'm having a hard time getting local restaurants do advertisement on radio because of the cost, and then they are also hesitant to do trade because that can be too much for them as well.
I was wondering if anyone has lumped multiple restaurants together for a special promotion. Looking forward to hearing the feedback.
Kind regards,

The best way to get any money out of and results for. .. a restaurant for radio is to target a specific daypart. your argument to them:
1. more listening of radio goes on in cars than any other location
2. dining decisions are spontaneous and hence susceptable to suggestion (in cars) - include RDS in your proposal if you have it
3. absolutely every restaurant experiences an underperforming mealtime*: great dinner traffic, so-so lunch... huge breakfast traffic, ok lunch and dismal dinner, etc.
4. pick one mealtime only and focus on that for any given restaurant - airtime only in that daypart, menu-focus only on that mealtime.
5. the narrow daypart and specific days of the week - especially midday for lunch (which will, incidentally build dinner traffic, too) - brings cost down and creates a specific expectation for success for the client.
6. restaurants are easy to engage the on-air staff and promotions with - on-air people love free food, can talk it up on-air, once a client is on the air they can be part of Bosses Day promotions, sampling their new pizza at the station's family expo or whatever events you have, giveaway dining certificates at remotes, et al.
*can work with a specific menu categfory that is underperforming. Just recently we had a local restaurant add 'Artisan Pizza' so have promoted that exclusively for them with considerably success.
