Happy Friday, everyone!
Even though summer is not yet half over, all the major stores are already advertising their back-to-school specials.
So for this week's poll question, we'd like to know:
What back-to-school promotion(s) is your station doing this year?
Look forward to reading your replies!
What a great topic! We typically have done a school supply drive where people donate school supplies and we donate them to organizations that help children. We have made it a contest between our sister stations on who can raise the most
"pounds" in school supplies. The losing station DJ's take whipped cream pies to the face.
We sponsor a back to school kick off party at a large water park. All kids get a backpack that comes fully equipped with school supplies to get them started on the year. (A lot of the kids here are below the poverty level.)
During the year, we sponsor a Teacher of the Month party for the honoree and their class.
From Broomfield Broadcasting:
Our inspirational station offers their clients a special rate to participate in the Back to School Safety Tips campaign. We have written 10 different 45-second safety tips. Each sponsor can record his own tip, or just add his tag to our pre-recorded spot. The topics are:
In addition to sponsoring the tip, each client gets 10 30-second commercials during the two week campaign, plus 4 promos. We air a tip at the top of every hour, plus promos during the day. It's been very popular because it is affordable and it isn't a long term commitment for new advertisers.
I like Bob V's promotion, and Rebecca's "Safety Tip. Too late for this year, though. Our students went back to school, on August 8th.
