According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the not for profit fundraiser should never be compensated based upon any commissions based model. In a recent discussion with my executives I was asked to justify why the non-comm AE should receive commission. Some of the reasons I gave had to do with the different skill set required for an AE as compared to the traditional fundraiser. I also mentioned the fact that it is very difficult to recruit qualified, experienced salespersons without the added incentive.
Does anyone else have some good arguments for compensating non-commercial AE's on a commissions basis? I would be happy to hear them.

Wow! Non profit, vs not for profit.... such a gray area! Never say never. If someone is making money for some cause, somewhere, then and AE on any level deserves to compensated. And if it's that confusing & convoluted, don't get involved. AE's deserve compensation!! I'm sure an amenable plan can be devised. Not enough information to give specific comments. AE's do a ton of work and often times aren't commissioned enough...then to dissect & scrutinize on this level? Why would anyone be interested.
