    Hey radio peeps!

Wondering what your stations do for contesting with clients that want to do daily giveaways. Theres of course the "cue to call" or trivia question same ole way.. but looking for creative contest to do on a daily basis with a clients product (example.. a cup of yogurt, Free pizza, etc) being the prize.

Cant wait to hear your responses?!?!

I remember back in the early '80's when we first opened the Wendy's over in Sheridan... they gave us a buunch of coupons for baked potatos, because Wendy's was the only fast food with that product. We kinda had fun with it because it was such a stupid prize... "be the 10th caller to Win A POTATOOOOOO!"

Remember that a savvy businessman will give you a bunch of low-value prizes, hoping that you'll give him lots of high value airtime to promote his product and his store. Let's throw some numbers around...

If Yogurt Hut wants you to give away a free cup of his new Baked Potato Yogurt on the Birthday Club every morning, he's giving you a $2.49 yogurt that has a product cost of 87 cents. You give him two promos and a contest each morning, at an airtime value of $15 each. Over a five day period, he gets $225.00 dollars worth of airtime for an investment of $4.35.

Unless you're getting a significant buy (and commission) outside of the contest, it's really OK to say no. Unless the contest builds significant audience for you morning show, because EVERYBODY in Gillette (not just the Prize Pigs) wants their chance to win a FREE Baked Potato Yogurt (that they can buy for $2.49), you're wasting your sales time and your airtime.

Not sayin' don't do it, just sayin' you make sure that you and the station are making money somewhere in the transaction.

Our listeners love winning and we love the giveaways. Just running out of ideas other than the norm of contesting to give them away
