    Happy Friday, everyone!

This week's poll question is a little off-topic, but we thought it would be a fun way for everyone to get to know each other a little better:

What do you do for fun?  What are your favorite hobbies/leisure time activities?

Looking forward to reading your replies!

For FUN??? I write radio commercials! But outside of radio I'm A PADI Master Instructor for scuba diving. I'm fortunate to live about 50 minutes plane ride from some of the best scuba diving in warm ocean waters. Seahorses, Whale Sharks, all kinds of stuff. A nice wreck dive. We do night diving from time to time. No mobile phone, and the only dealine you have is when your air gets to the reserve level and you have to surface. :-) This is who I do work for www.buccaneerdiving.com" target="_blank">www.buccaneerdiving.com.

I also play guitar. Cook. mess about with a bit of close up magic.

In the summer if I am not sitting at our booth at a County Fair on a Saturday I am very busy with 4 kids.  I spend my time runing kids to soccer, baseball, football, gymnastics and dance.  I am also a huge Twins fan and live less than an hour from the Twin Cities.  We will travel to Target Field as much as we can.  Being part of the Twins Radio Network helps out getting to a couple extra games a year.

Geocaching! This activity has to be the best one for taking you places you'd never think of going to otherwise! It is also a great family oriented thing to participate in!

I am also a Baseball Canada certified umpire, as well as a Course Conductor in the National Umpire Certification Program.

    Happy weekend everybody!

    John,

My family recently tried Geocaching.  Boy was that a fail.  Not only could we not find what we were searching for, my wife got a deer tick bite and an infection so bad it put her in the hospital for 3 days.  Hopefully after the trauma of this wears off we will be ready to try this activity again.

Tom Clancy or Clive Cussler thrillers and a good cigar. It takes my mind off of all of the mental work that goes into sales.

DO NOT let drugs or alcohol become an escape. Getting your mind off of the work must be done with something that you can set down when it's time to saddle up again.

My wife and I like to ride through God's country (Black Hills of South Dakota) on our Harley Davidsons.  We are active in our Harley Owners Group which adds to the fun by giving us oportunities to meet people from around the world.  This weekend we are hosting a group of 24 folks from Sydney Australia, we are really looking forward to it.

Photography is pretty high on my list.  Landscapes and nature, architecture, and candids of interesting people, mainly.  I manage to sell a few photos now and again to help defray the expenses.  I'll post a few examples below.

Used to do a lot more fishing and hunting when I was younger. These days I get out to fish maybe a couple times a year and I enjoy hunting on weekends during the two weeks of deer season.

Some years ago I discovered metal detecting - hunting for old coins, jewelry, relics, etc. - which in some ways is not unlike hunting and fishing, in that you never know what you'll find.  Haven't done it in a year or two, but it's always an option if I feel like puttering in an old park.

And I enjoy grilling year-round, especially since acquiring a Big Green Egg.

Look forward to checking out your dive site.

Brent, I remember taking in the Minnesota State Fair a couple of times.  What a huge production it was! ...loud, colorful, food everywhere - a lot of fun.

I have a small interest in a local restaurant.  My favorite past time is (while inspecting the bar) to watch potential customers look at the menu on the door, walk outside and close/bring them in for dinner.  95% closing ratio!

    Hi Rebecca,

I am an avid quilter, berry picker, gardener and reader.   Quilting is my main hobby now but I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch too.  I have won a lot of ribbons for my quilting and now design a lot of the patterns I make.  I love berry picking in the summer time and make tons of jams, jellies and syrups.  This year, I have been selling my jams and jellies at the local farmers market and I am looking forward to seeing if I won some more ribbons at the State Fair this year.  I have a huge garden at my mom's house and this year we finally had success with squash and green beans.  It has been an excellent growing season here in Alaska.  Finally with reading...I love a good story especially one with a mystery.  My dad and I often trade Clive Cussler books as well as anything by Dana Stabenow.    Other than those things, I enjoy hanging out with my husband and teaching him about Alaska.  Hope everyone has a great weekend!
