    Happy Friday, everyone!

In college towns, the month of August is huge for mattress dealers ("sleep shops") and other stores that help starving college students set up their apartments.  So here is this week’s poll question:

What promotion or commercial campaign have you run that worked particularly well for a bedding store (or furniture/appliance) client?

Looking forward to reading your success stories – thank you!

Years ago we did a pajama party. During a remote from a furniture store three couples got into three beds and crawled under the covers. The men wore blue pajamas and the women, pink. The first couple to emerge from under the covers wearing their partner's pajamas won the bed.

It was proposed to the client as " the sex change contest" but, in a small town, the client liked pajama party better.

This idea can sell a remote.

For the last few years one of our local mattress and appliance dealers has advertised a drawing for a free bed in conjunction with his month-long Truckload Mattress Sale.

There's no purchase necessary to enter the drawing, so no lottery* is involved.   At the end of the promotion, one name is drawn to receive the free mattress set picked out by the store.  However, if the customer has already purchased a bed, their full purchase price is refunded.  So, there's no disincentive to buying now.

    Sample spot attached.

Look forward to hearing about other BTS bedding promotions!

    *Three conditions for a lottery:

    1) Prize

    2) Chance

    3) Consideration (e.g., a purchase)

The "sex change" double entendre is funny, if edgy.

Thanks for sharing the idea, Roger!

Had a fun "matress full of cash" with a chance to win $10,000 (insurance prize) and a guaranteed winner of a mattress.  very fun!
