Happy Friday, everyone!
Here is this week’s poll question:
How do you organize your day and week? What type of planner or time management system do you use?
Looking forward to reading your replies!
Well,
Thank God for all cool gadgets like Ipad, Iphone. Those things can remember better than me. Basically, all the "boring" stuff, like paper work, excell sheets...etc. I do it first...while i'm in my office. We have weekly meeting to discuss all relevant things and weekly tasks with time limit.
But, all the creative work, like pitching ideas...promos...program editing to make it more fun, relevant...sales packages...I do it outside. Here in Croatia is warm and sunny, and there is nothing like being outside, listening to your music and creating stuff. Thinking about it like a average listener...!
I have used Planner Pad now for 3 years. Everyone always razzes me for not switching to using my iphone but I still like to have it on paper. I like to have sections on my planner for who I need to see, things i need to do THAT day and specific appointments and planner pads has each day and week set up in sections. LOVE IT! I tried to go to a different one and that lasted about a week before I switched back over. Great office tool!
Every Monday morning I hand write a to do list for that week at my desk. But everything else incorporates my smart phone.
About 5 years ago I switched from a dayplanner to putting everything in my Blackberry. It was just easier to put follow up reminders immediately into the calendar on my phone when I was done a sales call; rather than waiting to get back to the office to write it down on paper.
As technology has improved and data has gotten cheaper, now I also put produced spots on my smart phone to play for clients on sales calls. Even though I can email the ads to them, lots NEVER open the emails and listen to their ads. The Blackberry gives me the chance to force them to take 30 seconds to listen to the latest ad we've produced for them.
Works great, as long as I don't lose my phone. So far - I haven't
I have used the basic "Week at a Glance" appointment book for years. I use the cell phone to remind me with a "ding" about a half-hour before an Appointment, so I leave on time to drive to client's office. If a client has a history of "no show" on appointments, I'll call a half-hour ahead to let them know I'm on my way. (If they plan to "no show" again, I'd rather know ahead of time so I can skip the drive to their office and do something else.) Ed
Generally;
7AM - Wall Street Journal, Business Trades, Radio Trades, Email.
8AM - Sales and sales related
2PM, Operations, Project Management, personnel, misc
All components are managed in Outlook and tied to all mobile device(s) and Google account. (Google serves as a universal backup)
I'm glad George mentioned Google too!
I have a gmail account (free) that has a calendar tied to it. I have all of my email accounts funnel into this account (like outlook, but not sitting on one computer... it is available on ANY computer... and password protected)
This is also tied to my phone (I have a Samsung Galaxy 3... freekin awesome phone)
I email myself the client's ad before our meeting... then pull put my handy dandy phone to play it for them.
as soon as my meeting is done... before leaving their parking lot... I open my calendar and put in my "next step" for them. I also send myself an email with a "to do" for the client. That way... when I get back to my desk... I have a reminder email, and my next appointment is already scheduled.
I can not BELIEVE that this is all available for free.... but it is! I also use Google Drive (a place to store all of my files so I can get them from anywhere)
This all took a week to get used to... but it is AMAZING! I am at a hotel right now.. I needed to print something so I saved it to my Google drive (that's simple) then I went to their "business center" and opened and printed it in a few seconds!
The future is HERE! I have friends that make fun of me for liking Google (one even bought me a Google Cup last year) but I think it is a great way to stay connected all over!
.... and if I break or lose my phone (I have gotten three new phones in the last 5 years) I can get ALL of my contacts from my old phone frm my google account! (no transferring needed)
