Hi everybody,
We are family oriented radio, working for almost 18 years now. We are in a need for a feature of somekind on friday morning. It can be fun, romantic...serious...quiz...etc.
Any ideas cross to mind?
thank you...:)
What about a feature that highlights local community events (concerts, movies, lectures, rummage sales, performances, classes, volunteer opportunities, etc.) that will be taking place over the weekend? Kind of a community bulletin board/update, that will help people plan how they want to spend their weekend. It could include interviews with the various event organizers, so that your listeners would know what the events involve.
Thanks Rebecca for the reply...
But we have that one alredy. Since we format our radio, our morning show is hosted by a man and a woman. Like a couple...the thing is, we are not presenting them as stars, but as a friend behind the mic. Each defending it's gender.
So, something...like interaction between those two...or just oriented to females. uhh..it's unclear.
Maybe something fun, but without pranking out listeners on the phone and etc.
PS - if you have any questions, or you're in a need of suggestion, please ask. I'm new here, so I don't know the past correspondence. TY
How about making it " FRIDAY - FUNDAY!" MAYBE ASK SIMPLE TRIVIA QUESTIONS...ABOUT YOUR AREA WOULD BE GOOD AND GIVE AWAY HULA HOOPS, BEACH BALLS, RING TOSS GAMES, GIFT CERTICATES FOR ICE CREAM CONES, MOVIES, ETC. ...ANYTHING SUMMER AND FAMILY FUN RELATED. OR ASK LISTENERS TO CALL IN WITH A FUNNY, FAMILY FRIENDLY JOKE IN ORDER TO WIN A "FUNDAY" PRIZE.
Alec, we have a good time with "Fuzzy's Fun Friday Flashback' at the end of the week, sponsored by a popular restaurant, Fuzzy's BBQ. Customers put their 1950's and 1960's song requests in a box at checkout, we draw weekly, play the song on the air, and the person gets a free meal of their choice, breakfast, lunch or dinner. We mail a letter they take to Fuzzy's within 30 days to get their meal. We include our program schedule for the next week, a nice plug for us. Mike Moore, WLOE, WMYN
Thanks Jan and Mike for reply...:)
The thing is...we are national radio, and any local promotions, features that are including local stores..etc.. are prohibited.
Assuming you do not want giveaways or local tie-ins....
Horoscopes
Comedy spot. Use edited clips from stand-up comedians for a 2 min drop in feature.
Guest spotlight - geared to your target audience. Highlighting the importance of parenting and family time. Needs to be important and relevant to your specific audience re: new books, new artists, new music, etc.
Featured artist or artist on tour, i.e., a feature geared to the core artists on your playlist. This fits with your national audience - tours take the artists everywhere, tickets can be bought online.
Depending on your audience there are 1-minute 'tip' versions of some national shows - like Kim Komando - with ideas on specific topics.
