To further continue our recognized evolution into a very successful marketing team/agency that just happens to own a couple of dial positions. This involves multiplied efforts with respect to marketing training and research, and improved diligence to self training and research on the part of all members of the Sales, Production, and Creative departments in particular.
We've been exceptionally successful about breaking the standard sales cycle mold; and continue to see the prospect clients coming to the station for meetings, presentations and pitches; as opposed to a rep having the meeting at the prospects place of business.
And of course... smoke the planned budget for fiscal attainment!! All of the above points have been tremendously important factors over the past few years.
WE don't sell anything. We offer creative radio marketing campaigns designed to actually deliver the planned or needed for results.

We need to add one more Marketing Consultant to our team at our locally owned radio station in Sioux Falls, SD.
We're three years old in 2013... the growth has been AMAZING, but we need one more person to help!
Any ideas on how to get the VERY BEST candidate? I'm taking my time and aiming for "experience" on this one.

I've spent nearly 50 years in this business and I've been reading the replies. Let me take a slightly different tack on the subject. We have to accomplish everything we can. I continue to hear from folks who complain their owners have unrealistic expectations. By the same token you hear from owners/managers who say the goals must be met and we all don't work hard enough.
How about taking 5 minutes a day to sit back and not take ourselves so seriously? When you look at all the ills this world of ours suffers through on a daily basis, our goals really don't stack up. Just 5 minutes and then lunge back into the fray. You'll feel better. Happy New Year!!
To learn more about digital! This is obviously the future of radio and I feel so behind the 8-ball. Sometimes I think I know just enough - but I like to know all I can and I haven't seen any books on digital sales for radio. If anyone has some great way of explaining digital sales, please message me so it doesn't clutter up this poll topic board.

Just to get better and more comfortable in sales. Most all my radio experience has been in on air and production positions. I have gained a whole new respect for sales and sales reps.
To improve as a marketing consultant, and in turn increase my revenue.
My goal this year is to LISTEN, LEARN and LOVE what I do, even more. Isaiah 48:17 I am God, your God, who teaches you how to live right and well. I show you what to do, where to go. (The Msg) Another version: 'teaches you to profit".
I did not make my goal (President's Club) after 5 times running last year. So, that is my goal - as the Lord leads - and since I work in Christian Radio - I will trust that to happen.
My goal is to increase my business 50% this year. I'm tired of shooting for small increases and hitting it. I think 2013 can be a huge year for businesses and I want to help them take advantage of it.
