I have an Assisted Living Client that would like to use one of their residents in the spots. I have ideas on them touching on the subjects of the family members making decisions and the lifestyle of the person living in the facility. Any suggestions or other ideas?

Hello Allan!  I'm about to include your post in this week's newsletter, but in the meantime, did you hear the spots here?

    Allan,

I did the same for a facility here.  I can email you the spot if you like. But here's how we did. First, talk with the Administrator or whoever you're talking to and find out what they want to highlight.  Then let them select some articulate residents or even their family members to interview. Set up recording device with a good quality mike. Ask leading, but open-ended questions:

"What do you like about ...???" not "Do you like...?". "Why did you choose....??" and whatever direction you want to go  in. Let them talk. If they are comfortable with the Director..they can ask questions, too.  Allow plenty of time. Take the raw recording back to the station and listen for the gems. Write some continuity that lets the resident make your points. Your announcer does the announcer stuff..name, address, contact info.  And..as in my case..there was one short line that the interviewee said that was perfect for the last line..."...we are a community."  I used that to end all the spots.
