    Happy Friday, everyone!

Here is this week's poll question:

Do you use your personal Facebook account as a networking tool to connect with clients and prospects?

I do not, although a few of my clients are Facebook "friends."

"Use" isn't the right term because I'm brand new to radio sales (this is my 4th week). But, I started a Facebook Page that I intend to use to connect with clients and share articles and ideas while I keep my Facebook profile only available to friends. I also have a separate Twitter account with my business Twitter account and Facebook page linked to Hootsuite so I can track the feeds simultaneously and schedule posts in advance.

I do, many times "friends"/customers on Facebook who are not always available will message me.  I have also had people who see my information on Facebook get in contact with me about commercials.

no, I do not..I do request that they connect with me on LinkedIn however...I find it a better venue for sharing business news and interesting information.

Very little. I'm beginning to use LinkedIn more for business though. It seems well suited for that.

I will use facebook to follow their business fan pages (bars, restaurants, dealerships...).   I do have some friends from facebook that I knew before I started in radio sales that are clients now.  Linkedin is a very good tool.

I stick to old fashion e-mail. It much more personal. Remember the old rule. If you discount one car dealer, all of the rest will know about their rate by the end of the day. Facebook is too open.

Many people who should be my clients think Facebook, or any social network is great because it's free advertising. Of course when you see that they only got "liked" 2 or 3 times it tells you what ROI they are getting.

On the other hand, those clients who are using it as a free ad outlet are telling you what they are doing so you can keep up with them.

I do run the station's Facebook page which is a way of promoting remotes. new clients etc. But I never hold that to any great expectations.

I used to FB my clients quite a bit when FB allowed you to post a client commercial directly to their page using the FB inline audio player.  I viewed this as a "value added service." My clients liked that very much.  Since FB stopped supporting that feature, I have scaled down my use of FB with clients to a great degree and use other online methods.

Yes, Yes, Yes.  Huge Opportunity here.  I used my personal facebook page to connect with people and build meaningful connnections and dialogue.  From those connections, I volunteered for various activities and further established relationships.  I used my facebook messaging, (which keeps a running trail of prior communication) to stay in touch since that was the medium we met.  And I garnered and continue to garner $$$$ as a result.  I use my business page to post company updates and industry news, however, I must admit, I don't always post on the page as often as I would like.  Hope this helps.

Yes. We have over 46,000 likes on our station's Facebook account. It is a very valuable resource for us. As for personal accounts, I keep pretty much only personal stuff on Facebook and professional info on Linkedin. I find my clients notice things on my personal account, and I can comment on things like "Wow I saw your kid's teeball pictures on Facebook, he sure is cute" or whatever. It lets them know I'm a real person and not just a vendor. I also tag their businesses when I visit them outside of work, so if I go shop at a boutique store I can tag that store and spread the word for them. They really appreciate it. At first I was posting media articles and other things I thought might interest people, but I felt like that was too much for most people. The messaging is a great way to connect with people that I know have full email inboxes, and of course it seems more personal. Of course, you have to use common sense when posting to make sure people keep you in their feed. I don't just post random rants or anything political. Just not appropriate for the masses imho. Keeping up with my customer's facebook accounts gives me that little edge when most reps don't know anything about a client's life. Of course they have the oftion to not friend or un-friend you, so I've never had a problem with privacy. Of course, I would like to connect with other fellow radio sellers! http://www.facebook.com/allisonjohocking

    Cheers,

    Allison

I use my personal facebook account constantly. Following my clients business pages, sending out messages, and promoting the stations. I even have a few accounts that prefer to use their FB messaging to communicate. Many times that is how I find out about people changing jobs, businesses changing hands before it is announced, and rumors or new businesses coming in. I completely believe this is a relationship selling business and FB helps me to better build that personal connection.

Clients that were friends first are on my personal facebook page. However,. I have set up a second facebook page that I use strictly for  business. My clients and business connections are my only "friends" on that page. Works great!
