    Happy Friday, everyone!

This week I had the opportunity to speak with several radio station sales managers, and most of them were exceptionally busy preparing for the high school football season (in fact, I caught one gentleman actually en route to announcing the first game, and he commented that he was having a tough time finding a parking space).

So I thought that this would be a timely topic for the RSC poll question:

What kinds of ad packages do you offer for high school football?

Looking forward to reading your replies!

At our station we broadcast the weekly games for 4 local High School Football Programs. Football here in Texas games are usually played starting Thursday night and continuing into Saturday afternoons and nights every week. During the week we have  coaches shows for all of the teams as well as Pre Game and Post Game shows and Statewide score wrap ups for the evening the day of the broadcasts. We sell the sponsorship packages for all of the programs and usually have no issues getting them. Local advertisers are very happy to be part of the game broadcasts. The packages are sold on an annual basis and include sponsorships of all the other sports broadcasts Basketball, Baseball, etc. High School Football as they say is "King" in Texas. Every week is like a Super Bowl.

Here in Ohio we have an avid Football Program and sell everything from pregame shows - division report, coaches show, basic pregame, and then regular game and then other specialty sponsorships - game time and temp, half-time, first downs - sack attack, etc. , and the post game and scoreboard show after the game.

We offer three different packages. The first is called liners and is good for one calendar year. The customer gets a 15 sec. liner in each locally produced broadcast. It includes football, boys and girls basketball, Legion baseball and Little League baseball. The second is called "all sports". The full package offers Bronco's, Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls, and high school football and basketball. It is an a' la carte deal. They can have it all or individual portions. The third is the all year package that can include Rockies baseball or Legion baseball and Little league. It's easy to sell these to businesses of any size or budget.

Right now we are signing up sponsors to annual "Sports Sponsorship Packages" which includes all High School Sports(Football, Boys & Girls Basketball, Softball & Baseball) regular seasons and playoffs. After the school year is over we switch to Little League games and playoffs. You cannot imagine just how popular they are and the parents of these kids love it. We charge them a set amount per month depending on other spots and the number they want to run. By the way the games we broadcast on average is between 50-70 per year.

After communicating with several members of this forum early this year, we made a major switch in how we sell sports. Our goals were simple. Increase revenue, make the broadcasts sound better by reducing the number of ads, make it easier on production, create something that appeals to sports fans and non-sports fans.

We doubled our billing and increased base billing significantly. Here's what we did:

As a sponsor, you will receive:

    • 68 fifteen-second messages in game
(1 per game: 30 in football, 16 in basketball, 22 in baseball)
    • 200 fifteen-second messages outside of the game
(25 per month from August to March)
    • A listing and link on the High School Sports page on HometownDailyNews.com

Total Investment: ($279 per month from August to March)  $2,232

This sponsorship will include any post-season games.
All games will be streamed live on our website.
