I live where gambling is illegal and mentioning gaming in advertising has strict guidelines. I've been invited to give a presentation (for 15 minutes) of our stations to a casino in the next state over. I'm approaching this forum from a creative aspect. Does anyone have any ideas on promotions that would help them see our value even if we can't actively promote the gambling. The casino does offer entertainment, golf, dining - it's a resort. I'm thinking about people winning a bus trip there; winning a trip for 2; some digital aspects... perhaps lines of thought that haven't crossed my mind.
I'm wide open for any ideas and suggestions. Thanks!
Okay here you go. Most states that prevent advertising on casinos will restrict naming the game, talking about betting or using sound effects. You CAN however mention the name of the place, even if it has Casino in the name. You can talk about entertainment and restaurants...and.... "Las Vegas Style Fun" :-)
People know just by the name that the place is a casino.... so concentrate on the feeling, and the amenities.
Now, go sell em!
Chris is right. I'm going through the same thing right now. The only thing we can't mention are the types of games at the casinos or something like "loosest slots". Sell the fun.
That's cool - but what about the idea aspect? I mentioned a couple of things like a bus trip, etc. What else can I suggest? Thanks for all your help!
The bus trip idea is a good one. Make it a day trip. Transportation, a meal and have the casino provide $20 in chips. All of this is pretty common for group business. You just need to agree on a price from the casino.
The contest aspect may be better since it's early in the relationship. A contest promoted on-air and on-line. All registration on-line. The casino will get a list of the entries including address, phone, and email. This is valuable info for them. As you said, it's a resort offering entertainment, golf, dining, etc. The prize should be a 2 night stay, nice accomodations, meals at all of their restaurants, concert tickets and golf for 2. If the casino provides limo service, as some do, that would be a nice kick-in.
