Radio is the original FREE content medium supported by ads. Does that sound anything like the Google model? We did it first...about 100 years ago. People don't seem to be willing to pay for content but are willing to give up a little of their time to hear an informative message about something they didn't know they needed. Just ask Sirius! 40% of new car owners don't renew after their 1 year free subscription.
Maybe then, the answer lies in our ability to produce a compelling story (much like Paul Harvey) and stop worrying about whether the announcer is in Dallas TX or on the moon.
