    Hi Everyone,

Our stations are looking for some examples of effective and creative station web sites.  Any help or examples will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks everyone and have a great weekend.

    Christopher,

I'll be including your discussion in this week's newsletter, but in the meantime, you might like to check out this series of past Friday poll questions on radio station websites, as there were a few websites named in these threads:

    Radio Station Websites, Part I

    Radio Station Websites, Part II

    Radio Station Websites, Part III

    Have a good one!

    Hi Chris,

Over here in India I would like to point your attention to the radio website of 91.1FM Radio City. The site URL is http://www.planetradiocity.com

The recommendation comes as a listener of Radio in India and therefore is unbiased since I am not associated with any radio station. Probably it is the voice of the listener that is creating +ve WOM for this station.

Any station website that connects the three dots is good according to me. These dots are:

    1. Becomes a source of NTR (Non Traditional Revenue).

    2. Gives an opportunity to Indie artists who otherwise have not established a name to secure terrestrial air play.

    3. Showcase the sound of the station and conversations it drives to media planners. Being a terrestrial media...how do I demonstrate the sound of the station to a network buyer who is some 1000 miles away!

Technology and Aesthetics are like room service and hygiene...you wouldn't expect a shoddy treatment once you are checked in to a hotel!

    Hello Himanshu,

Thank you for the info.  Cool site, it is so interesting to see radio not only in another market but in another country.  What I found to be the most interesting is the portion of the site to promote local artists.  I see how that would not only benefit the artists but the websites as well.  That is a great way to get people to the page.  Thanks again Himanshu and have a great day!!

    Thanks

    Chris

    Thanks Chris,

I've shared your feedback with Ms Rachna Kanwar, who is VP & Business Head - Digital Media & New Business at Music Broadcast Private Limited (MBPL). 91.1 FM Radio City is the brand owned by MBPL.

Please also find the Wikipedia Link of FM Radio Stations operating in India. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_FM_radio_stations_in_India

The prominent players in Indian Market are 91.1 Radio City, 98.3 Radio Mirchi, 92.7 Big FM...etc.

I'll be glad to be one of the first visitors to your station web site, please keep us posted when it goes on-air. You can also reach me on [email protected]

From past experience I can advise you on some things to make sure of.

Try and use someone with experience designing media websites and don not use a cookie cutter.

    Make all ads IAB complient.

Keep everything on your URL to get full Google Analytics credit.

Make sure everything (like news stories) is NOT done is "code" that Google does not recognize for search purposes.

    Christopher,

Check in with Seth Gardenswartz at Boom 360 - www.boom360.com. They have a low cost approach and their websites are designed to engage customers (in your case, listeners).  They have over 4000 clients around the country but you'll find their service very friendly and honest.

Boom 360 is beginning to branch out into radio sites and I know they would love a chance to work on yours.

Here is Seth's email - [email protected] and let him know I sent you.
