Herbert, You'll find a variety of helpful materials at Dan O'Day's website (www.danoday.com) - including some audio courses on developing a career as a v/o artist. It's a tough, competitive game, and many people want to get into it. I read somewhere not too long ago that just five guys are doing 80% of the network v/o work these days. Five guys - out of the thousands of people who voice commercials professionally! Years ago there was a very talented guy working here in Pullman-Moscow doing an airshift and lots of production. He applied for a production director's job in LA with the Salem stations and got it. Being in LA gives him the opportunity to land freelance gigs - I hear him doing national work once in a long while - but it's a tough gig to sustain, even for someone with a lot of talent. That said, you might want to sign up with online voiceover services - like www.voice123.com or www.voiceover.com - and see if you can get auditions. There are quite a few online groups for voiceover artists. A diligent Google search will get you started in the right direction. Best of luck to you!
