I am having trouble coming up with promotion ideas for a sandwich shop who also serves breakfast it is a small mom and pop operation (just opened) I don't believe they have many advertising dollars but they know the have to start. Their tag is "it's moosalious.." Any ideas anyone has would be very helpful!

    Hey Tammy,
The Deli could have a contest that features their patron’s winning a Sandwich named after them. The KMTX listener that submits a tastiest sandwich combination could be immortalized by having a Moosalicious Sandwich named after them FOREVER…we all need a legacy.
Here is how it could unfold. Sell the Moose Deli two remotes spanned across two consecutive Saturdays. Invite the Mayor of Helena, the Helena Chamber of Commerce President, local Helena authors and any of your local DJ’s to the first remote. The Moose Deli would then name a Sandwich after all of the local Celebs. Their favorite Moose Sandwiches will be named after them immortalized on a small black board above the counter….(very prestigious).
Anyone patron who would like to submit a Sandwich, can during the first remote and in the time between remotes. During the second Saturday remote, the all of the sandwiches will be made by the Moose Deli and KMTX listeners are invited to come to the Moose to sample, then vote for the Sandwich that will immortalized forever….(on a small blackboard above the counter)
The Sandwich inventor with the most votes from KMTX listeners not only earns the respect and admiration of the greater Helena area by joining the likes of the Mayor of Helena on a black board… but a free Sandwich per month for an entire year.
Your client will have cough up enough $ for 2 remotes, one small black board, and a little bit of product.
    Good luck!

Do they serve moose, is that ethnic or is it a phrase native to your area? May have something depending...

If you have a morning show...would they be willing to let you try a sandwich each month on the morning show...then you talk about it and taste test it and eat it right there on the air. They could sponsor a 'The Morning Moosalicious Minute' - they give you a sandwich every Friday morning for a month. If the feature takes 3-4 minutes...that's what they pay for. Then the morning show hosts promote that sandwich talking about what's on it, etc. You could change days...or do whatever with it...but maybe you can go somewhere with this thought starter! Good luck!

    Blake,
A local breakfast/lunch place did something along these lines, only they offered the naming rights to the high bidder at a Chamber of Commerce auction fundraiser. The hospital ended up being the winning bidder, so now the Friday special is "Gritman Garlic Fries." The recipe itself would appear to border on "cruel and unusual" for all but the most jaded garlic lover, but they continue to pack the place out every Friday. Clever idea!

    Tammy,
Something else you might consider is a birthday or anniversary promotion, in which your listeners submit their birthday or anniversary date. Your morning show host (or whoever) would draw a winner each day for a free birthday breakfast or lunch. The winner's prize and experience should be nice enough to make a good impression; after all, the client wants them coming back as a paying customer. Chances are the winner isn't going to eat alone, so the restaurant is likely to offset the cost of the free meal, more or less. Charge whatever you deem fair for the exposure. It's a good deal for the restaurant and the station.
