We just hosted our 4th annual Spring Home Garden Business Expo, and it was a great success. Now we're looking for an idea to do for the late spring/early summer time. Just wondering what other stations out there are doing, if anything? We have not done anything like this before, but considering a kickoff to summer picnic or something of the sort. What do you do?
How about a Celebrity BBQ. Get local celebrity's, a few national one's ( there are celebrity circuits where they travel to event's, sign stuff, and hang out.) . get a few food Vendors, maybe have a hog roast, free food .. have a celeb softball game .. etc. But make it FUN. It might cost you a little bit for them, but make your money back with sponsorships from garden, tractor, even schools, and Pre-Fall business's
Congrats on your spring promo. What is your format or was this a cluster promo?
Hey Matt,
Up in Northern New England we are just starting to organize the Ultimate Backyard Makeover on two stations. At first we were going to gear this towards Fathers Day, but am finding that so many people would love to win something like this.
Working with a Landscape company providing $15,000+ in prizes from a water fall feature, fire pit and outdoor kitchen with gas grill. Adding in sponsors to provide either a deck, play area or shed, spa, patio furniture, and party for up to 25 with DJ services. Each sponsor location we'll host customer video interviews at random...like the HG TV "Bath Crashers" concept. Video these and provide a submission form so a backyard photo can be submitted to our web site. In the end, our listeners will help vote on who they feel deserves the makeover. 5 finalists will be chosen...a yard inspection will take place ahead of finale. DJ's along with lead sponsor will deliver the "Publishers Clearinghouse" style prize mobile to their workplace or home with an oversized Grand Prize Certificate, ballooons, flowers etc. Nichole Romano Great Eastern Radio
Nicole - Couple of questions, because my GM has been dying to do something like this for a garage or back yard. Is this your 1st year? How did you tie it in with radio spots and (most important) how much did you charge the sponsors to be a part of it? Thanks for the idea!
We have done variations like this in the past, but not with this large of a final goal of providing over $25,000 in prizes and result of $20K plus in overall revenue.
