What kind of dollars are you billing to the web sites, and any other digital products. I need to get more trained up on this stuff, suggestions?
i've been charging one client $28 a month to have a front page ad on our website. i'm not sure what the going rate is out there. i just gave them this rate because they do regular radio advertising with us, so i felt this was less than $1 per day. If they weren't spending money with us any other way, i would probably go higher with the rate.
This is an area where radio is leaving a BUNCH of money on the table. Newspaper has really caught on and TV is doing so rapidly. They are monetizing their websites.
Often, radio and web budgets are separate. You would not believe the amount of money dedicated to web advertising. We have businesses that advertise on our website only. I agree that if a client is on-air and on-line they should get a price break.
I do not recommend a template website. Make the investment in a professional site and keep all the traffic on your domain to claim the credit. Use ad sizes that fit the acceptable industry standard. Find the most profitable media website in your market and price your product underneath that umbrella. If you can find our determine the cost per thousand this will help you find a good price for your product. Make sure your backend will rotate ads on a cost per thousand basis. There are plenty of people that want on the 2-3 most popular pages but once you sell these out you're done. You'll get more customers by offering a ROS, at a lower cost per thousand, where advertisers will be on the key pages some of the time. Like radio, some advertisers are willing to pay more for premium location all the time.
