Good Morning All!
I am curious if any of you have information involving attorney commercials. I have a potential law firm that is contemplating running with me, but they have questions as to disclaimers. If any of you have documentation or can point me in the right direction...would be so greatly appreciatedThe spot is a :60 that is a law tip followed by firm information.
That may vary from state to state. Contact the State Bar Association and the also "licensing" department in your state and ask if there is anything that they require. We run radio ads for a law firms that has no disclaimers on our stations in Wisconsin.
The more "claims" they make, the more probability that they would want to have a disclaimer. For instance, if they start talking about multi-million dollar settlements they have won, they may want to say that "every case is different" or "settlements and awards vary from case to case". They are the lawyers. They should be able to figure out how to best cover their butts if the state doesn't require any disclaimers or they are concerned, right? :-)
Thanks Robbie
Jamie,
I posted a link to your inquiry on the RSC Facebook page, and this is what Jim Williams replied:
We have a law firm that's written their own copy and used this simple disclaimer at the end: "PRIOR RESULTS DO NOT GUARANTEE A SIMILAR OUTCOME."

Undoubtedly, the tip they're giving leads them to think they need a disclaimer. I don't think you need one, however, check with your state broadcasting association and talk with an attorney. I'm certain they have a hotline of attorneys like we do. I'd love to have a copy, written or audio of the spot. Sounds like a good idea. Kathie Easton WIXE Monroe, NC
