Easter Promotions

Hi everyone, I am extremely new to radio sales (just made it through my first month) and now I'm trying to think of a good Easter promotion to get my little town business involved with my station and our community. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Minkoya, congratulations on your first month in radio sales!  I ran a search and found a couple Easter promotions that were discussed a while ago on RSC.  Details about a really creative Easter egg hunt put on by KASL are here.

    HI Minkoya...

I started an Easter Egg Hunt at a large municipal park here in Belleville Ontario several years ago. We turned it into a "City based event" optically speaking that is and worked with the Chamber of Commerce.

Out two stations held title sponsorship on the event. It was quire easy to get municipal and chamber support as it falls into a "tourism event."

Because we included a dedicated promotionla schedule to regionally market it as an event this allowed for several benefits:

    1. WE could sell sponsorhsip inclusion into the promotional schedule for actual dollars ( good corporate citizen business optics)

    2. We acquired all of th eggs from Wall Mart ( 50,000 of the little suckers) by merely allowing Wall mart as the  marguis egg supplier in the promotional flight.

It was supported on our face book, wensites.. we alos worked a trade deal with te daily broadsheet for co -sponsorship position for them.

The Tim Hortons local franchisees where there slinging coffee and dougnuts.. ( Dunkin Doughnuts in the US)

So map it out... talk to your promo department,, talk to the city, and peice it all together.

Now.... in 2012... the event draws 5000 people... tehnically because the number of eggs .. we are one of the biggest easter egg hunts in North America.. unofficial...but true based on the criteria of the number of eggs.

The station makes money on it.......... good day at the egg hunt!!

Don't do it on Easter Sunday....Saturday.

Don't be surprised as to how fast 50,000 eggs disappear when you loose a maurading crowd of 8 year olds and under ...

make sure you have your roadcrew there.. live cut ins.. vehivles... and whatever else you can do to create a carnival atmosphere.

    Cheers

You could simply do a "Bunny with the Money" registration in businesses.  One of the bunnies would have a cash prize attached.  Sell advertising pkgs. and run promos with business names...where to register....determine your cash prize on the size of the pkgs. and how many you know you'll sell.  Or, take one big bunny to your local mall with a bigger advertising pkg and money and gift cards attached with a registration set up.  I'm just going to WalMart and buy bunnies for about $30 or less.  This sounds fun over the air....has a ring to it and your promo can be fun and creative.
